How to Add a Calendar Event on the White Settlement Chamber Website
Thank you for contributing to the White Settlement Chamber community by adding an event to our calendar! Follow these step-by-step instructions to create and submit your event using the Events Calendar Pro plugin. All events are reviewed and approved by an administrator before being published.
Step 1: Sign Up for an Account
- Visit the Website: Go to the White Settlement Chamber website’s homepage.
- Find the Sign-Up Button: Locate the “Sign Up Today to Make a Difference” button on the homepage and click it to create an account.
- Complete the Sign-Up Form: Enter the required information, such as your name, email address, and a secure password.
- Ensure your email address is correct, as it’s needed for verification.
- Verify Your Email: Check your email inbox (and spam/junk folder) for a verification email from the White Settlement Chamber website.
- Click the verification link in the email to activate your account. This step is required to proceed.
- Log In: Return to the homepage and scroll to the monthly calendar. Below the calendar, find the invitation for the community to submit events, which includes a login link or button.
- Click the login link/button and enter your email and password to log in.
Step 2: Access the Event Submission Form
- Locate the Event Submission Form: After logging in, the event submission form will appear below the monthly calendar on the homepage, in the same area where the community event submission invitation was displayed.
- Start a New Event: Click the “Add New Event” or “Submit an Event” button (or similar) to begin creating your calendar entry.
Step 3: Fill Out the Event Details
Here’s how to complete it:
- Event Title: Enter a clear, descriptive name for your event (e.g., “White Settlement Chamber Networking Luncheon”).
- Event Description: Provide details about the event, such as its purpose, activities, or special instructions. Use the text editor to format your text (e.g., add bullet points or bold text).
- Date and Time:
- Select the start date and time for your event.
- If the event has an end date/time or spans multiple days, fill in those fields.
- For recurring events (e.g., weekly workshops), select the “Recurring Event” option and set the pattern (e.g., daily, weekly, monthly).
- Location: Enter the event’s venue or address. For virtual events, you may have the option to include a Zoom link or other online details.
- Event Category: If available, choose a category (e.g., “Networking,” “Fundraiser”) to help visitors find your event.
- Featured Image (Optional): Upload an image, such as a flyer or logo, to represent your event. Click “Upload” or “Add Media” to select a file from your computer.
- Additional Fields (Optional): If prompted, add details like ticket prices, organizer contact info, or website links.
Step 4: Submit the Event for Review
- Review Your Entry: Double-check all details for accuracy (dates, times, spelling, etc.).
- Submit for Approval:
- If you’re not ready to submit, click “Save Draft” to return later.
- To send your event for review, click “Submit” or “Publish.” All events are sent to an administrator for review and approval before being published.
- Confirmation: After submission, you’ll see a confirmation message indicating your event is pending review. You’ll be notified by email when the event is approved or if changes are needed.
Step 5: View Your Approved Event
- Check the Calendar: Once approved by an administrator, your event will appear on the White Settlement Chamber’s monthly calendar on the homepage or in a dedicated “Events” section.
- Edit if Needed: To make changes, log in again below the calendar, navigate to the event submission form or your user dashboard, and select your event to edit. Note that edits may also require administrator approval.
Tips for Success
- Verify Your Email Promptly: Complete the email verification step as soon as possible to access the event submission form.
- Provide Clear Details: Include all necessary event information to streamline the approval process.
- Submit Early: Allow ample time for administrator review by submitting your event well in advance.
- Contact Support: If you have trouble finding the login or event submission form, or encounter issues, reach out to the Chamber’s support team via the website’s contact form or email.
