SUMMARY:Ribbon Cutting at WS Historical Museum
DESCRIPTION:The White Settlement Historical Museum invites the community to join us for the ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the grand opening of our special exhibit: Life at Liberator Village: A Homefront Story in White Settlement. \nStep into a wartime community that helped win a war. During World War II\, thousands of workers flocked to west Tarrant County to build the mighty B-24 Liberator—one of the most vital aircraft of the conflict. To support this massive effort\, the federal government constructed an entire neighborhood next to the bomber plant to house the workers and their families. That place was Liberator Village. \nThis powerful new exhibit revives Liberator Village through compelling personal stories\, authentic artifacts\, historic photographs\, rare original film footage of the B-24 Liberator in production and flight\, and heartfelt video interviews with former residents. Explore daily life for the men\, women\, and children who lived in government-built apartments while contributing to the home front victory. \nHighlights of the Exhibit Include: \n\nInformative wall panels with text\, photos\, and maps tracing the story from start to finish\nAuthentic artifacts\, such as a pilot/navigator cap\, a B-24 compass\, an original red brick from the village\, and an apartment heater\nVideos featuring interviews with former residents\, B-24 assembly and flight footage\, and views of how the area’s landscape and ecosystem have evolved\nRarely seen photographs of workers\, the bomber plant\, and aircraft production\nReproductions of Liberator Village architectural diagrams\nA tablet-based B-24 flight simulator (available during announced times—check the Museum’s Facebook page)\nA remembrance map where guests can mark where their family lived in Liberator Village\nHands-on activities for kids\, including activity sheets\, a planned B-24 pilot photo station\, and a question & answer station\n\nThough Liberator Village no longer stands\, its legacy endures. The residents here played a crucial role in winning a global war\, forging a vibrant community\, and helping shape the future of White Settlement. This exhibit honors their sacrifices and preserves an essential chapter of our local history. \nJoin us for the ribbon cutting to officially open this tribute to the home front heroes of White Settlement! \nThe exhibit opens to the general public at 12:00 PM on February 21\, 2026\, and runs through May 30\, 2026. It is free and open to all ages during normal museum hours (Tuesday–Saturday\, 10 AM–3 PM)\, with special extended hours announced (including select Sundays and Thursdays in March\, with more possible in April and May). \nSponsored by: Rival Sign Company\, White Settlement Area Chamber of Commerce\, Stacy Keanaaina-McCaffrey\, Realtor\, Robles Jr Law\, & NatureLinks. \nWatch\, listen\, explore—and discover the inspiring story of Life at Liberator Village!
