Soldiers involved were a very diverse set: Confederate General Stan Waite, a Native American, & North Texas’ own, Brigadier General Richard Gano, going up against the U.S. Third Indian Home Guard and the 1st Kansas Colored Volunteer Infantry and units from Colorado, Kansas, and Wisconsin. This was the last major engagement in Indian Territory durin g the Civil War

As during any war, huge advancements were made with the introductions of battlefield evacuations, hospitals aboard ships, the pharmaceutical industry, medical record keeping, women nurses as well as many other surprising outcomes. Program shows how medical instruments were used for the care of the soldier along with results of how medicine was taught and practiced tracing how important lessons are gained through the study of history.
