Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base and the city of White Settlement will co-host a “welcome home” commemoration for Vietnam War veterans and their loved ones at 9 a.m. August 1 at White Settlement’s Veterans Park, located at 8901 Clifford Street.

All veterans and their families and friends are to be invited to the Welcome Home Commemoration where a grateful nation will thank and honor U.S. veterans of the Vietnam War and our allies, including personnel who were held as Prisoners of War or who remain Missing in Action, for their service and sacrifice on behalf of the United States and to thank and honor the families of these veterans.

9 a.m. – Parade:  Will begin at Brewer Middle School, 1000 S. Cherry Lane, travel north on S. Cherry Lane to Clifford Street, west on Clifford Street to Veterans Park, 8901 Clifford Street.

10:00 a.m. – Official Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony

Special guests have been invited to speak about their experiences during the Vietnam War, including Dr. Linda Schwartz, the current Assistant Secretary for Policy and Planning for the U.S. Veterans Administration.
Other special guests include Air Force (retired) Maj. Gen. Christopher S. Adams, Jr., Air Force (retired) and former POW Col. Thomas J. Curtis, Army (retired) Col. Bob Harkins, and Karoni Forrester, daughter of Marine Corps A-6 Intruder pilot Ronald W. Forrester, who was shot down and missing in action since the Vietnam War.

10:45 a.m. – Free food/drink, car show, ‘Fort Worth Firebase’ reenactment, information tables and all other exhibits will be open to all guests.

Event concludes at 1:00 p.m.
